Intake suitable for Toyota Supra MK5 Cold Air Intake fresh air

Toyota Supra MK5 Cold Air Intake

Lieferzeit: 3-4 working days

Description

Where is the Supra’s intake hidden?

Unfortunately, this is where you have neither access to cool air nor to an optimum volume flow: The intake for the engine’s air supply is located directly behind the headlight and shielded by the bumper without any opening.

Why exactly there?

Due to current regulations, manufacturers are forced to introduce as much heat as possible into the system as early as possible so that the effective range of the emission-reducing elements is reached as quickly as possible. The volume of the intake noise is also one of the reasons.

However, this is not ideal for your car’s hardware, so we have come up with a solution.

Cold Air Intake

With this solution, we are not changing the basic concept of the airbox and we have a reason for this: it works! What we are changing, however, is the route to the airbox, as this has potential for optimization. We use the overpressure area in front of the radiator, which is created during the journey and grows steadily as the speed increases. We have placed an opening in this overpressure area to not only take in cooler air, but also more of it! Due to the overpressure, we push air through the duct directly into the airbox. If the volume is not sufficient, we have placed additional opening ribs so that there is never a shortage of air volume, even if you significantly increase the performance of your vehicle.

Measurement

B48 (2.0L) & B58 (3.0L) engines in the Toyota Supra have a lot in common: They are extremely sophisticated engines, efficient, optimized for low emissions, stable and both have a high performance potential at the same time. To do something good for your engine, we have developed a plug&play intake kit that we have put through its paces not only on the road, but also on the race track under extreme conditions.

Ex works, both engines draw in the air inside the warm engine compartment. Thanks to an elaborately designed, non-restrictive intake duct, which shifts the intake point to the front of the vehicle and enables the turbocharger to draw in air at ambient temperature, we now achieve a significant reduction in the intake air temperature. This is particularly noticeable at high loads and only average ambient temperatures, despite the powerful intercooling of the B48 and B58 engines. The best indication of this is that the ambient temperature during the test runs of our kit was even on average 1-2 degrees higher than during the previous test in standard condition and yet with our solution we were able to reduce the intake temperature AFTER the intercooler by up to a further 11 degrees (or 25%). Even after the maximum possible thermal load (extremely hot turbocharger, hot charge air system), the reduction remains clearly measurable at a further 5 degrees or 10%. Regardless of whether you drive on the racetrack or not, this reduces the thermal load on your turbocharger and engine and increases the headroom for potential tuning (lower knocking tendency)
